New Car Lease and PPI

Hey Guys and Girls,
I'm looking in the near future to lease a Nissan Leaf. I will be able to offset my fuel saving with the cost of the lease.. so a new car for me
However I'm just wondering, if I'm made redundant or sacked, i will then be short for the cost of the lease. Could and Would I get PPI cover for this type of lease?
Thanks,
Gizmo

Is the battery lease included in the lease price? Make sure they dont sneak that on later.
Maybe income protection insurance?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

If the battery is not included in the lease price, then i simply cannot afford to take the leaf onSo will not be taking out the lease. I've kinda been stung with a HP car, as i made some awful decisions on it! lol The biggest one was selling it to We Buy Any Car.

You mention you will be able to offset the cost of fuel, yes you won't be purchasing petrol, but surely your electric bill will rise?
I doubt any income protection scheme protects against final dismissal, redundancy maybe, but read the policy as there will be many exclusions I'm sure many will aply to you. Overall I don't think your idea is a great one for you.
ETA the battery is £70/month, pretty much a large % of what domestic users may use on fuel, the winter sees a range of 76miles (and those are mfrs figures) so expect less.0 -

Hey DUTR, thank you for your input. I've had a look at the income protection companies and it says if i get fired, I'm not covered ect. I'm not planning on losing my job lol I've got an ecotricity card which means i can fill up for free, in half an hour. My daily drive is only about 30 miles too and from work, then i'll be using my partners car for the longer trips. As she'll keep her petrol one. I'm spending about £300 a month in diesel atm, doing about 25k a year. I've got a 2001 Mondeo returning about 42mpg, if that lead foot doesn't show up. However, maybe it will be better to lease a much smaller/economical car.0 -
So will those longer trips will be costing you more?
30 miles each way in the winter maybe pushing it close if you cannot charge it between journeys.
The battery lease is approx £70 a month so that needs to be added to the cost of the lease plan figures.
Whether they show it included or as an addon needs to be checked. Not looked at figures for leasing them but im guessing you could get a small/medium hatchback for quite a bit less per month.
How much of your £300 fuel bill will you be saving? You need another car for longer journeys so how often is that?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Something doesn't add up here .......???
A 30 mile to and from work is only around 7500 to 8000 miles a year.
An electric car with a battery range of 76 miles might just do the job - but where does the other 15000 miles a year come from?
No electric car is going to be any good for that kind of mileage.
£300 a month is not a 30 miles a day commute - so we don't have the full story of the OP's car usage.
Edit: even if I've misunderstood what you meant by 'to and from work' - and it's 60 miles a day that still leaves us short of several 1000s of miles.
And it still isn't £300 a week - even a six day per week 60 miles journey only comes to 360 miles - that's a cost/mile of over 83p0 -

I was posting a reply earlier, the figures suggest around 50 gallons of fuel.
For now electric cars are not for many at all, it would have be a 2nd vehicle and an expensive one at that.0 -
And if they wanted to do 15,000 a year the battery lease would cost even more. I think the £70 is only upto 6000 miles?
Have the lease for less than 4 years or more miles adds to the cost.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
