Old circuit, low insulation resistance readings - REPLACE?

Options
Just had an electrical safety inspection done of the house.

Been told that in various places circuits have low insulation resistance ratings (this is going to be rated as a 2 - serious concern, doesn't need addressing immediately).

Also informed that the circuits are generally old, although there is a mixture of copper, color coded and aluminium wiring.

Plus, the fuse box is not up to a modern standard, lacks the switch which stops you from being electrocuted if you drill into a cable.

Should I have the house completely rewired?

As you haven't moved in yet i would totally rewire and re-plumb the house then you wont have any problems once you have moved in.

Probably worth giving serious consideration to, especially as at least one circuit has failed the insulation resistance test.
Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it

can you post up the insulation resistance readings for the failed circuit? I have found in the past that electricians have coded stuff wrongly and the readings might not be as bad as you think

    Aluminium wiring ?

Can't honestly say in over 25 years of sparkying I have come across household ali wiring ? I am thinking that is lead wiring and if it is then yes you need a rewire !
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

I expect they are tinned copper.... still serviceable if they test out of course!

There was aluminium wiring in the '70s. They soon realised what terrible stuff it was and went back to copper, even though it's a lot more expensive.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
