Avios

in Credit cards
Hi, I am looking to apply for an Avios credit card.
Can you combine Avios points from various cards? Such as if I had a tesco credit card for groceries as they tend to enhance their points for people who shop with their credit card in store. and another card for everything else, flights etc.
For the latter card I am looking at the BA Premium or the AmEx Gold Chargecard.
Thanks

Never had any problems combining from ClubCard and AmEx MR
Remember you get extra signup bonuses if referred by someone else (Gold card comes with 22,000 MR rather than the normal 20,000) and both I and others on here would be happy to give the referral0 -
I have the Tesco MasterCard, BA AmEx, and the Gold AmEx charge card. There is no problem transferring all of the points to Avios.
As a side note, if I remember correctly you are better off using the AmEx even on your groceries - they advertise it as 5 Clubcard points for every £4 you spend, yet 4 of these points are the normal points you would get from using a standard clubcard anyway. I only use the MasterCard when AmEx is not accepted.0 -
Amex gold in first year gives 2 MR per £ in Tesco. Use regular clubcard to get 1 point per £ plus green points.
So if I'm just buying 4 pints of milk for £1, I actually get 2 MR and 2 clubcard - which is almost 7 avios!
You don't need to combine the avios, you just get them all sent to the same account (either BA or avios.com or a mixture). Combining avios refers to moving avios between BA, Iberia and avios.com
I'm not sure how rounding works on the BA premium amex, but I do know that for spends between 50-99p and £1.50-£1.99, you may be better off using a basic BA amex than an Amex charge, because BA rounds up but charge card rounds down!!0 -
There are a few options available to you which I'd suggest to you, I've listed them below. I personally would suggest option 1. High return per pound and you're not paying any fees. But it depends on your situation.
I personally have the first and second card on the list.
They do have some requirements on the amount you earn, credit checks...blah...
1) Gold Amex Charge Card, if you can spend £2k within 90 days, you'll get 22k bonus + the points for the spend so 24k at least.
Just remember to cancel before the year is up to avoid the annual fee.
2) BA American Express Card, 10k bonus for spending £1k + the points for the spend so at least 11k points. (NO FEE)
3) The Platinum Card, 35k bonus for spending £2k in 90 days + 2k for the spend.
There is an annual fee £450, but you can get the bonus points then cancel - and they will refund the cost pro rata.
4) British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card, 26k Avios for £3k spend in 90 days. Plus 1.5 points / £
There is an annual fee £150, but you can get the bonus points then cancel - and they will refund the cost pro rata.
Hope that helps!0 -
Not necessarily what you were asking for but another way to get Avios if you have any holiday/business travel coming up is through Rocket miles. It's a third party site for booking hotels (like Booking.com). If you book through this site you won't collect any hotel loyalty points! etc. but if you are not collecting them for a particular hotel then it is a good deal.
The lowest reward I've seen on the site is 1000 Avios per night (you can get up to 5000) and if you make a booking before the 10th of Oct they give you 3000 bonus Avios on your first booking. There is a little more detail on BA's website (ok I've been told I can't use links in my message, but you can find the site on google)
If interested sign up to the site using the link which gets you and me 1000 bonus Avios on your first booking. (I can send you the referral link if interested
If you book through the link on the BA website you won’t get the 3000 Avios bonus, use this link for 3000 once signed up (again just search rocket miles 3000 bonus miles)0
