I made a claim for a broken hearing aid that got crushed while my husband was in hospital I have a claim number
However my husband sadly died
The company said I can still carry on with claim
This doesnt make sence can someone advise

    You can cancel the claim and hopefully they will not have had any expense so far meaning no excess to pay.

    Whatever your decision you will have to disclose the claim/ loss to other insurers in the future if you are asked about previous losses/incidents

    So sorry for your loss.

    In normal circumstances the insurer would arrange for your husband to have a replacement hearing aid, which as you say, does not now make sense under the circumstances. That said, there is still a financial value to the hearing aid that you are effectively out of pocket for - so you could ask them to make a cash settlement for the hearing aid as a replacement is no longer required. This would be unlikely to be the full retail value of the item, but they should be prepared to pay a cash settlement equivalent to what it would have cost them to arrange a replacement.

    Alternatively, you could withdraw the claim, but I'd recommend that you speak to the insurance company and ask what their records and the CUE (Claims and Underwriting Exchange) register would show. Technically, they should keep the claim on file (even if you don't claim any monies from them) and similarly, the CUE register should show a claim, but the value shown as zero. That said, there are no hard and fast rules and under the circumstances they may just erase the claim. If the claim does appear on CUE then you'll have to disclose it to other potential insurers for a period of time (typically 3-5 years) and it may impact on the premiums they quote.
