Constant short bleeping when booting Desktop

Last night I came to switch my desktop off, the screen had auto shut down as had been left for a while. I did the usual move mouse and/or direction keys, but the display would not return, after trying several times, switching screen on/off etc., I was left with no alternative than holding the power key down to power off, something I know to only do if essential.

This morning when I power up the desktop, it lights up on the on switch and starts rapid bleeping, but no other actions, not sending a signal to the monitor or trying to boot.

The set up is a SSD128gb for start up, and all data on the original HDD.

The unit was not moved inbetween using it and closing it.

Clues please.

Do you know the make and model of your motherboard?
The BIOS (Basic Input Output System) is a small bit of code that knows how to start the system, and part of it's job is to test things are doing what they should - at least to a rudimentary level. This is what's trying to report errors to you through the motherboard internal (very simple) speaker.

Given that one of the things that can go wrong is the graphics card, all BIOSs have alternative ways of communicating errors - the "beep codes" are one such way. The number and length of beep mean something, what though is usually manufacturer specific - hence my asking for the make and model!
It may well be something died or worked it's way loose, and so you're unable to start up...

Hi - Not sure of the Motherboard, will it tell me if I take it apart. No worries there, can handle the insides OK.

The PC is a Medion MD8828

The blurb from getting it is a MD8828 Medion with Intel Viiv technology with core 2 due processor E6750 2.66 Ghz

    NVidia Geoforce 8600 GS Graphics
    TV Tuner

Fear it must be something died as it appears to have happened while working, and with no screen display last night, think it may be the video card, but only a guess.

    Thanks

There is a number of N1996 printed on the motherboard plus some labels, does this help, do you need the numbers off the labels?

If you've got a graphics card installed, try taking it out and using the onboard graphiocs and see if that helps.
All the beep codes I've found seem to be BIOS-specific and not motherbaord specific.

OK right, I called Medion and spoke to their Technical Support, asked for the Motherboard Make/No. MSI / MS7502
Tried my luck and asked what the constant short bleeps meant and he suggested it was memory, so I have re-seated that, and the bleeps have stopped, but currently stuck on the intel screen.

After looking at your link ND, I recall it is Phoenix.

    Final bit
Ended up removing all memory, and then rebooting with half, it loaded up, but said system restore had different memory configuration, so switch off and added the remaining memory. Now back to normal.
    Thanks for the pointers.
