New build in Langley

Hello all,
I was hoping to get an advise from someone local to Langley, Slough. We have been looking for a 3 bed semi in the west of the capital - somewhere with good schools. Had been looking at Whitton but not finding anything useful for our budget.

Stumbled upon this new development from Bellway

http://www.bellway.co.uk/new-homes/north-london/kings-reach

which is in the catchment of an outstanding rated school. 3 bed semi's start from £425,000. Seems a bit steep to me from slough but wanted to know the opinion of locals on the price.

Dare I say that the Mrs love it and I would have to come up with a very good reason for not going for it.

Cheers for your reply folks,
W

  • Thanks a lot folks. I was driven west from London. Langley being very close was a contender. But judging from feedback, I need to go further west. Thanks folks

Completely disagree: I've lived near Slough on-and-off for 25+ years and it keeps moving up the scale, particularly (relative) property prices. People can be very biased & bigoted about Slough: The centre is booming, particularly relative to other local towns, it is close to London & benefits from that etc.etc. etc..

Wish I'd bought some stuff there when I was thinking about it about 14 years ago...

    Thanks theartfulllodger,
Always good to hear an alternative view. I drove around the area this weekend. The town center does look rundown but the area off junction 5 wasn't too bad. There were some green spaces and nice semi's by the main road. Heard good things about the CastleView school there as well.

  • I knew there was a house price divide, but we've got the equivalent of the most expensive house on that site and we paid less than a third of the price. Not much help to the OP, unless they consider moving north of London (by around 300 miles) rather than west!
