    All in all, a good reason to insist on being married before you move in with a partner.

    Or to put the money you would otherwise have spent on rent into savings so you can move in a hurry.
  • Agree with mojisola - when you move in, you should save the amount you paid in the past on rent into savings - I don't charge my OH any rent but then he is saving £500per month over before.

    If I chucked him out, he'd have had the benefit of 4 years worth of £500pm to spend on future rent.

    Obviously a bit different if you are not working or bringing up children together.
