Kindle Paperwhite vs Kindle

I have an 'original' kindle with the Qwerty keyboard which is working fine but is a bit old fashioned now. I have tried to use it for browsing the www but it is very laborious & 'Klunky'.
Can anyone tell me please if the paperwhite is any better? I'd thought about getting a 'kindle fire' but I believe they aren't so easy to read on (light reflecting on screen etc)
I'm really looking for the best of both worlds! Any comments/advice welcome please.

- The light comes in very handy when I want to carry on reading when hubby goes to sleep. I can turn the light up a bit and read without my bedside light, but somehow it still doesn't hurt the eyes like a backlit screen (e.g. phone).
- The page turns are much less noticeable. On the normal Kindle, the whole screen goes black for a split-second when you turn the page. This doesn't happen on the Paperwhite. It's a really minor point but it would have bugged me.
- On-screen touch keyboard is MUCH better than just having a trackpad when typing in the Kindle store. On the normal Kindle, you have to scroll to the letter, press it, scroll again... Paperwhite has a smartphone style keyboard.
Some branches of Waterstones have both the Kindle and the Paperwhite so you can have a play with them both.
EDIT: Just seen on Amazon that the new version of the basic Kindle has touch, so ignore my last point.

I have an orignal Kindle and the Fire, I much prefer reading on the older version with the pop up light.0

The Fire is heavy for reading, as well as having a screen not really suited for reading.0

I've only browsed occasionally on the paperwhite. While the touchscreen is a lot more user friendly than the keyboard on the original kindle, a 'reading' (e-ink) kindle really isn't designed for browsing the web, so is still kinda clunky.
Unfortunately, I haven't yet come across an e-ink device that is great for general web browsing.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.

Hi All!
Thanks for the tips.
Traded in my Kindle Fire 8gb for the Paperwhite at CEX - the difference in price cost me £52 so rather pleased! Was offered £40 to trade in my Fire and I doubt I would have got that price elsewhere
