How does getting paid a week in hand?

When you leave the employment you get 2 weeks wages. The one 'in hand' and the one you have just worked.
Not strictly true in all cases, especially if, say, you worked somewhere where there was a clocking in system and hours worked for the week couldn't be calculated until the week had finished. (not forgetting holiday pay owed)0 -
I get paid a week in hand and in effect what happens is I submit my timesheet on a Monday morning and that afternoon I get paid via bank transfer for the hours I submitted on last Monday's timesheet so it is literally exactly one week later that I get paid.0
