Housing Benefits in relation to savings over £6,000

Hi, I'm looking for an answer which directly deals with my question. I struggle terribly with long-winded answers because I can not keep my focus, so asking questions on Government websites only to then being directed and redirected from webpage to webpage has me forgetting immediately.

My Question:
I receive Housing/Council Tax Benefit, my rent (£62) is fully paid and I pay around £120 per year for Council Tax.
My savings are currently at around £4,800 but in about a year they shall have risen above £6,000 and I don't know how much rent I shall then have to pay.
I have read about any £250 above £6,000 counts as £1 income but does this mean that for every £250 over £6,000 that I'll be required to pay £1 towards my rent. ie. if I had £6,250 I'd pay £1, if I had £7,500 saved I'd have to pay £6?

I suffered a head injury in 1992 which caused some damage to my brain and which consequently causes me to suffer with amnesia.
Fortunately, my long-term memory is unaffected and it is my focus/concentration which suffer; distractions cause me to lose focus and forget what I was doing or saying.

Thanks to whomever answers.
