in Credit cards
Hello,
I am looking at getting a credit card that will accrue AVIOS points. I have got a service charge coming up of £1,200, if I make the payment via AMEX online will I collect AVIOS miles?
Thank you

The above offer isnt very good if you are going down this route and dont actually need credit.
You'd be better off getting an AmEx Gold Chargecard, free in the first year, and you'd get 20,000 MR points (or 22,000 with a referral) plus 1,250 for the actual spend.
MR can be transferred to Avios instantly on a 1:1 basis as standard but there are promotional periods which have historically gone up to 2:3 rate. So worst case 23,250 Avios and could be almost 35,000 avios if you are able to wait.
There are plenty of members here that'd be willing to give you the referral for the increased bonus.
Check not only that they accept AmEx but that they dont charge an additional fee for paying by card0 -
The best card depends really on your long term goal/whether you intend to regularly spend on the card as well as this one off purchase.
I started with the BA Premium Plus which does have an annual fee but does give you a companion voucher after you've spent £10,000 in a year. Once I hit this I moved onto the Gold Rewards card. It is worth mentioning as well that AMEX refund the annual card fees pro rata, so if you cancel it before the year is up you will receive some of the fee back.
As mentioned above I can give you a referral for any of the personal charge cards or either BA card if you drop me a message, and I do get some points too for doing so.0
