    Madness isn't it! Will the Universal credit system be based on the same weird and wonderful structure, or will there be more logic when that takes over..?
    UC is supposed to be linked to PAYE etc via the RTI (real time info) system, so the theory is that payments automatically adjust with earnings. They're trying it out on tax credits now, not very successfully at the moment.

    Does that mean UC won't have the disregards that TC currently has?
    I don't think it will - it's supposed to be linked to earnings month by month. Even the self-employed are supposed to report income monthly - which caused quite a bit of discussion here.
