Best way to approach Currys regarding complaint/compo?

Hi all,

Recently bought a cooker through Currys, had a 3-month ordeal involving TWO faulty ones, waiting patiently for new parts, engineers etc. Basically without an oven since June and I had to take several days off work to be at home for engineers.

I've skipped the details because my question is, simply: Where and to whom should I write to complain?

I just want to ask for a reasonable amount (not full refund) for the inconvenience, plus paying for a Knowhow installation that couldn't be performed.

I assume writing a letter to customer services (address from Contact Us section) is the best route. But if it's more efficient and reliable to email I'll do that.

I think you assume correctly. :)
(although I would probably have take the matter up with the store manager myself)

Curry's are notorious for ignoring letters - there have been stories of people winning small claims court because letters aren't responded to and when speaking to CS they tell you they won't read letters.

It may be better to e-mail instead as these are often forwarded to regional/store managers to deal with.
  • Write a letter, make sure to include your email address and a contact number or two.

Make sure to put in all dates and references and what your issue is and that you're looking for a solution.

Take it into your local PcWorld or Currys store with it and ask them to forward it onto their Medics team.
