Changing from Gas to Electric cooker

I have a gas cooker at the moment and want to convert to dual fuel but need to have the electric connection installed as I don't have the switch. Not sure if this is worth it or if I should just stick with gas only...
Any advice/thoughts? Thanks

I hated my gas oven- very difficult to get an accurate temperature and to cook things evenly but much prefer a gas hob with the control of temperature etc

I've been without a gas oven for nearly 3 years now and it is doing my head in! I can't stand electric ovens. Gas are so much more reliable. You select gas mark 4, you get gas mark 4. Every electric oven I've ever used has been wildly inaccurate on temperature. A bakers nightmare!
And gas ovens produce much nicer, moister cakes and better pastry. I cannot be dissuaded from this fact.
I am definitely having a gas oven installed this year. Before xmas. Even if it means digging up the kitchen floor myself. With a spoon. :rotfl:0 -
I'd stick with gas too, I find electrically cooked food seems dry. Almost artificially cooked if you know what I mean?0

Just to balance the thread, I went from a gas to an electric oven last year when installing a new kitchen and love it! (kept gas hob)
We find that the electric oven is more controllable and just generally better for us (2 adults, 2 kids). Our old gas oven seemed very hit and miss - it might have been a bit rubbish however this is our experience to share.
One thing that might be worth noting is that some single ovens just need a normal plug socket.
We went to the expense of having a new circuit installed and when the oven arrived, it had a 13amp plug on it! At least I have a proper circuit ready for future use.0 -
I have now got all electric in the Kitchen, but wish I still had the Gas oven.
However I would not be without my Induction Hob, it is more controllable than a gas hob, heats up quicker and safer if you have little ones, who like to investigate.
Induction hobs are the best thing since sliced bread !0 -
A lot of single electric ovens can just plug into a 13A socket - mine does.
Personally, I would much rather have a modern electric fan oven than an old-fashioned gas one. It's less effort, and with the fan on, the temperature's a lot more even. I can always use the oven without the fan if I particularly want something browner on top.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Induction is a very good replacement for electric or gas hob - very energy efficient, but not sure if its cost efficient. But the outlay to replace all the cookware can be expensive. You could get standalone ones pretty cheap to try out. Gas vs electric for hob - its gas always.
