Outlook Express .dbx failure to restore

This transpired after Microsoft compression which I mostly ignore as it is a pain and pops up far too frequently. Quite a few of my folders are now empty. I have discovered where the .dbx files are located but restore via Outlook Express or OE-mail recovery seems to do nothing for these emty folders. Any suggestions for this problem?. Thanks

.BAK files are created during compression in the Mail Store Folder, are they not there ?

Thank you peter999. I have located the .BAK files. All the Outlook Express folders that I have a problem with will be copied to a new directory where I shall rename all .BAK to .DBX. These will then be restored to MS Outlook Express. I am pretty sure that this will work.

Make copies of .BAK files until it's all working ok.

Importing damaged .dbx file into Outlook Express can repair your file and make it accessible again. This manual solution is a suggested solution which doesn't involve any cost.

How about the size of the dbx files corresponding to the empty folders? If they are also zeros, then there are no data existing in these files. Then you may try to scan the whole drive where you have stored your dbx files in the past and recover your emails via DataNumen Outlook Express Drive Recovery at datanumen.com/outlook-express-drive-recovery/

Otherwise, if the sizes are not zeros, then simply use DataNumen Outlook Express Repair at datanumen.com/outlook-express-repair/

Both work for me well in the past.

I am away for a week or so and the involved computer is at home. The files I have located seem to be okay but still to fully restore. Many thanks to all but it will go quiet for a while from my side.
