Argos - Praise

Afternoon all,

I recently posted a thread regarding a TV that I bought from Argos which had developed a fault after 2.5 years. The reason I posted here was because I was unable to locate my receipt and wanted to know where I stood:

Thread = 4995977 (can't post links)

I want to start of by saying that Argos customer services (both first and second line) are fantastic. I called them to highlight the problem I had and they told me to find my receipt and take it in for a refund (pro-rata) following an engineers report.

After searching the wealth of boxes that it could be in, I accepted that I wouldn't be able to find it. I did however manage to find the small slip that is stuck onto the side (to prove the time and data) as well as print off my Argos Card Statement to match the 2 up and create a proof of purchase.

I compiled a letter and send it to Argos customer services and they called me at 10 AM the next day which is highly impressive. They told me that this is acceptable for proof of purchase and instructed me to get an engineers report to prove the fault was not down to misuse.

After getting the report, Argos called the store in question to ensure everything went smoothly, reserved my new TV for me, and confirmed that I would get an exchange to the full value of the TV which was £399.99 (not pro-rata which was initially suggested)

All in all I cannot fault the customer service team at Argos, and told them its nice to know that good customer service still exists! The store team were not as helpful or willing, but that is another story,...

The key thing for me to remember is to store receipts safely, which has meant that I now have a dedicated filing cabinet for receipts and invoices etc. for the house and any purchases.

Top marks for Argos.

Regards,

    I always staple the,receipt to the instruction book as it is less likely to get mislaid.

    Great idea! Must remember to do that myself
    Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
