Problem buying a bag online from Zatchels

Hi
I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the company Zatchels?
At the end of July I purchased a bag in their sale and they took the payment immediately.
To cut a long story short, I am still waiting. I have had various excuses from the company from not having the right leather (I ordered a plain black bag!), it's currently being made, etc.


I suspect that as I only paid £50 in the sale and the price is actually now £95 they want me to get fed up and cancel the order.


Does anyone know if I have any comeback from the company?

    Yes I have had problems buying from Zatchels. I ordered 4 bags on 6/8/2014 for which they took payment immediately and I only just received 2 of the bags on 13/10/2014. I only received these because I kept ringing up and asking where they were. Various excuses were given: waiting for leather, high volume of orders etc. I was told they were still waiting for the pink leather for the bag I ordered for my daughter however there was no problem with the others they just did'nt want to send half the order out! I insisted that they sent what they had as I had been waiting over 2 months and amazingly they finally did.
    I received 2 as I cancelled one because of delay. I was told I would be refunded straight away yet I am still waiting a week later. I have rung twice and as usual received various excuses!!! Accountant on holiday, can't refund my credit card need bank details instead. I cancelled the last one today also as I didn't want the hassle of it and now have no confidence in them.
    My advice would be to never buy a bag from them. The ones I received were lovely but not worth the hassle
  • I was going to get some of their stuff, as I really like the style and they are local to me in Leicester. I have a facebook friend who works for them so I spoke to her about possibly getting a discount code. No such luck but I'm glad really, here's why...

    She said the company is having very bad financial problems. The two owners have been bankrupt numerous times before and they are really struggling now. She said they drive flash cars, wear handmade suits and live it up and it appears to her that don't really care if the company goes under and she said they care less about the her and the other people who work there!

    She said, the bags they are selling they don't even have in stock - they take orders for stuff, usually on sale - then using the money they collect from the sale - then order them in!!!

    That's probably why your order has taken so long. Sometimes the supplier of the leather doesn't have the same leather in stock so they have to wait very long times for it to be made.

    She said some of the stuff she is making for them now is actually from a sale that was ran ages ago because they haven't offered the particular leather she is making stuff from on the website for a LONG TIME!!

    I'd be very careful ordering from them, if they go bust whilst they have your money their is a chance you may never get your product or be able to claim your money back. It's quite risky.

    Look around like I did, there's other satchel companies that make those leather style bags. Google can help you find some - but do you research on consumer review sites (I use Trustpilot a lot) as the service levels they offer differ quite a bit.

    I think The Cambridge Satchel Company and The Leather Satchel Company seem to be the best alternatives to Zatchels. I went with the latter as they did a lot more customisation and generally seem to offer better customer service but are a little more expensive.

    Anyone who is made bankrupt is automatically disqualified from acting as a company director, possibly for as long as 15 years. The two directors of this company have been in post for the last 8 and 7 years respectively...draw your own conclusions about the reliability of your 'friend's' information.
  • I've had the EXACT same problem. Take your money immediately then you hear nothing. Their Terms contradict themselves stating:

    6. DELIVERY

    6.1 We will give you an estimated delivery date for the Goods. No times or dates provided by us are guaranteed but, unless otherwise agreed, we will deliver Goods within 30 days from the date we confirm acceptance of your order.

    To me, this is a contradiction.

    Ordered bag on the 28th May. Still hasn't arrived and have given a host of excuses. Last time I contacted them they just refused to respond.

    I too have had problems with them. They take the money and you hear nothing. Delivery was supposed to be withing 28 days but after a good five weeks my order had not arrived. I emailed only to be told that the order was going to the workshop at the end of the week. Ten days later, still nothing.

    I followed with another email saying that I would cancel the order if they could not give me a delivery date. Lo and behold two days later the bag arrived. I was so disappointed. None of the edges were finished properly, shedding fibres from the leather all over my clothing. I could not have used it. It also looked very cheap. I returned it straightaway but there was not acknowledgement that they had received it. It took several emails to be informed that my order would be sent to returns within a few days. Again no communication followed to say this had been done. Eventually I managed to get hold of them to be told that my refund would be processed tomorrow. I wait with baited breath!!!!

    This is by far the worst internet company I have ever dealt with in terms of customer service. I just wish I had read reviews before I had ordered. I had just wanted to support a British company and the bags looked nice in the photos - unfortunately this completely backfired on me!! I would not recommend at all
