No Water in Hotel Room

Hello,
We checked into a hotel for 2 nights over a weekend.
There was no water on either Saturday for most of the day & Sunday morning when we were checking out. We informed the hotel of the problem, they told us it was a problem in the area. They offered no alternatives not even water to brush our teeth, all water including toilet water was unavailable.
We contacted the water company, who said there are no problems in the area & we asked the hotel next door, who also said their water was fine. We have checked & its a new hotel (April), other guest have had this problem before, check Trip Advisor
What are our rights as guest of a hotel, surely basic sanitation or alternatives should be offered? I think we are going to push for our money back.
I've tried Googling but its not clear.
Any advice welcome,
Thanks
T

Even though they didn't offer alternatives, did you ask for some ie
bottled water etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
We cant check reviews on tripadvisor, you haven't given the name of the hotel.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Where was the hotel? How was it booked0

I recall reading somewhere recently (here?) that basic sanitation and water (hot and cold) are legal requirements, for landlords and hotel proprietors.
Hopefully someone with specific knowledge may see this and confirm. A quick search suggests Part G of the Building Regulations may be relevant.

The OP doesnt say where the hotel is, whilst I suspect they are in the UK based on their comments, if the hotel was in any other country the UK building regs arent really going to be relevant to them0 -
If this was UK based, I would expect a free stay, at a minimum. I really doubt you'll get your money back unless you made a major complaint WHILST you were in the hotel.0

Er.. How did you go to the toilet?
How could you possibly stay in a hotel for that long with no water.....0 -
Just write a letter and ask for a refund...'.most' hotels would pay up0
-
For all we know the water may have been off for a very short time whilst maintenance was done, it's hardly a part G priority.
The OP may have just been unlucky.0 -
