Bluetooth GPS and com port

I have a bluetooth GPS from Kirrio, works nicely with the PDA.
On the PC I have Autoroute and ViaMichelin, both of which will work with a GPS connected.
The PC can see the GPS and connect to it. The software needs the GPS to have a COM port.
When I try to assign the COM port, it says access denied:mad:.
Windows XP with one user only, so not an admin task.
Any suggestions.

This might be way off-beam but when using TomTom on a PDA with a Bluetooth GPS you have to choose 'Other NMEA' device (or something like that) instead of the 'Bluetooth GPS' option. It's counter-intuitive but works with TomTom.0

Have you set up the com port in control panel - bluetooth (settings?) can't remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure I had to do something like that.0

Not just me then! I have been struggling with trying to move over my Tom Tom Navigator from one pda to another. Identical devices, one with a fault and one the replacement. The hassle I have had getting the new device to recognise the BT GPS. Still there now. Just got to phone Tom Tom in the morning to reset their system to recognise the new device for my traffic subscription and speed camera database downloads. Ho hum, no why do I think that will be a challenge??!!??Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0
