what doe it mean? I've never heard of it!

Basically...to paraphrase...it means "whatever you throw into the mix of Life...will come back to you at some future point".

So..for instance, throw something "bad" into the mix of Life and months or years later back it comes and "bad" comes back in your direction.

Throw in a useful (well..hopefully....:)) contribution to Society and years later someone realises and wants you to come on board for them and help out...and there is some overdue appreciation for it.

Its "you get what you give, but it may take a while to come back again in your direction". Maybe months...maybe years...but there's a good chance the "boomerang will come back".

Neighbour thought they could do something wrong and has got away with it for some time/maybe even quite a while...but then I came along and that's that and matters look as if they will get put right finally (it took "many days" but that "bread" came back again upon the waters...). I guess its referring to the tides the sea has? Tides go out and then tides come back in again and bring back anything that got thrown upon the waves when they were out...

    Does that make it clearer?
