Would a Neighbourhood Dispute put you off buying a house?

You probably need to say what this dispute is for peoples opinion but myself I would not buy the house even at a cheap price. I lived next door to neighbours from hell for 10 years and wouldn't knowingly go down that road again. Who's to say that if the dispute was resolved another may occur in the future ?. Also why can't the vendor resolve the dispute themselves? If i knew the answers to all the questions i wouldn't be on here0

I don't wish to give details, as I'm the one that is in the situation and am somewhat surprised the other person concerned doesn't seem to realise that, if they don't start being fair and resolving the situation pretty soon, they will have a Neighbourhood Dispute clearly visible as going on. The other person concerned is the one overstepping the mark (literally).
I didn't realise I had walked into buying a house with this situation going on, as vendor and transgressor seemed to have a reasonable relationship going on with each other (something I don't understand personally, as either someone treats me fairly and "all is good" or they don't and it quite obviously isn't).
NB; It's not my own house that would have this problem, as I'm the "innocent party" in this and won't be selling my house. Should the transgressors house be sold, they could easily resolve the dispute and there wouldn't be one to declare.0 -

I know. However, I wont be selling mine, so it doesn't matter.0

Is this a boundary dispute? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Yes and it has transpired that the reverse is the case.0

The reverse? You mean they do own the land?
Unless you are never leaving then neighbour disputes involve two parties, not one. You can't inflict a dispute on someone else without it affecting you as well.Been away for a while.0 -
I would want to know what the dispute was and, if it was resolved, how. If it wasn't resolved, I'd want to know how I could resolve it, unilaterally if necessary.
However, I would recognise that, in all likelihood, both parties were likely difficult and would make unpleasant neighbours, and that I would have to be able to live with the fact that only one of them had left.
Given that this dispute is probably the one over the teeny tiny area that you only found out you (believe) you own after buying, and so didn't exactly expect, if I found that out in time, I'd be unlikely to choose to buy the property next door.
I do always chat to my future neighbours before buying anyway.
I doubt I'd buy the property in this case.0
