moving house staying with suppier?
Options
I'm in the process of moving, I'm with BG and would like to stay with them but my new place have Eon and gas with some strange supplier I've never heard of before (can't remember their name?)anyway do I have to setup an account with eon and the gas supplier or can I stay with BG? I did ring, the woman from Indian I spoke with was friendly enough just not to clear on the process.

Hi, when you move in to your new place you have to register with the existing suppliers at that house and give them your opening meter readings on the day you move in.
You are then free to start a switch back to BG that will take between 3-6 weeks.
This is to ensure that the accounts at the new house are finalised
You cannot switch supplier if you don't have a supplier to switch from..
If you don't follow this process you could end up paying some of the previous occupants usage.
By ringing them the same day you move in you give them the opportunity to send a meter reader round the same day to check the readings ( should they want to ).0 -
Hi Sniggings,
Keith1950 is spot on
When you move in to a property, you need to let the current energy supplier know you’ve taken on the responsibility.
You’ll need to get an account set up from the date you moved in and to the reads.
Once the account is set up, you’re free to take your supply to the company you wish.
When you approach your new supplier it’ll take 3-6 weeks to transfer your supply over, they’ll ask for a set of readings to open your account with and they’ll send them to the losing supplier to final bill you.
They’ll explain all this to you.
Let me know if you’ve got any other questions.
