Hi all,
Since my workplace have changed my base I am now commuting 84 miles a day round trip.
Based on 22 working day per month this give a total of 1,848 miles.
That's 22,176, add in going to the shop going to london from kent once a month it could easily be 30,000.
I have a petrol Ford Focus ztec 1.6 it's costing me just under £15 a day which is putting me in a very hard financial position.
My workplace still have not approved any excess mileage claims from me, however another thread will follow on that in the correct section.
What I would like to do is sell my focus and get a more efficient car, I am considering. Hire purchase as I need the reliability of a good car as I also do on call work.
I am looking to pay 150-200£ monthly and looking to use the focus money as a deposit.
On my initial search I am considering a VW golf and vauxhall astra either 1.6 or 2.0 engines. I don't know a lot about cars and would appreciate your input and advice.
Thanks

No doubt someone will be along in a minute to recommend a Mondeo.
I hate diesels and if I had somewhere I could charge overnight and during day I'd get a chevvy volt or Vauxhall ampera for around £15-£17k. Fuel savings alone would be worth it equiv to about £1 a day assuming your average journey is 40 miles or less between charges.0 -
Don't bother with these inferior Fords. What about a Lexus IS250 or Subaru Legacy 3.0 R spec?0

Have i just awoken in a parallel universe, Legacy 3.0R, world famous economy engine that makes Polo Blue Motions and Yaris Hybrids look thirsty by comparison.0
