Repainting furniture

My friend is looking for some nursery furniture, but would like it painted in the same shades as the walls. She's thinking of getting items like a crib off freegle or ebay and paying to have them repainted in the colours she wants. Does anyone have any idea how much this might cost? To me it sounds a real faff and might work out more expensive than just buying items in white or similar.

It's easy. If you use chalk paint you don't even need undercoat. I've made some diy chalk paint with emulsion and plaster of paris. It can then be sealed with wax or water based varnish. It can take time but it's not hard and you get something unique.0

I agree is extremely easy to makeover furniture and chalk paint makes it a few hour project for most size pieces. There are ready made options out there but is very easy to make your own Like adandem mentioned especially if matching colours is important.
You need to keep in mind that the pieces will need a clear top coat or wax to make them wipeable. Plenty of tutorials as well out there0 -
Thanks, was really looking for an idea of how much it would cost to pay someone to do it, my friend doesn't want to do it herself, and as much as I would give it a go, I just don't have time with other current commitments.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Paying someone to do it won't be worth it to be honest with you. My guess is if you don't have 2 hours spare to complete a project like this you might as well buy new.0

I agree, not worth paying someone. Ikea would be cheaper tbh.0

I didn't realise it would be so quick to do, I thought whatever she got would need sanding, possible undercoat and one or two top costs of paint - would this all really just take a couple of hours to do?I agree, not worth paying someone. Ikea would be cheaper tbh.
I said this, but it's the colours she wants to match the wall. What kind of ball park might she be looking at, or is it just better to bite the bullet and find someone local to quote?Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Sorry I should have explained a bit the wonders of chalk paints, there is no sanding, no primer, no prep at such you simply paint it on, then you can re coat within 30 minutes
Most pieces will only need max two coats but more often than not one coat is enough.
Then a clear varnish over the top completes the job. Doing a diy means she can choose whatever colour she wants, all you need is to mix plaster of paris straight into your wall emulsion.
Hope this helps0
