Worried about Dad's Estate and debt
Comments
-
Might not be so - A cousin of my fathers died intestate and although my father was already dead the inheritance he would have got went to me and my sister. Keep an eye on this and make sure the heir hunters are aware that your father had children.
Exactly the same in my situation. My sister and I are beneficiaries of my mothers cousins' intestacy because my mum, and grandad, pre-deceased him.
I think where the OP's situation is different though, and unusual,is her father sadly passed awaiting distribution.0 -

I dont think that matters - in my limited understanding the distribution should still go down the family line to the next benificiaries.
I am sure there are better brains than mine out there who can put this right. Speak to the Heir Hunters if you know who they are OP.Mags - who loves shopping0 -

If A dies and B is one of the beneficiaries, B inherits. If B dies before A's estate is distributed, the money goes into B's estate and is distributed according to B's will or the intestacy rules.
You don't 'lose' an inheritance because you died before the executors had sorted out the estate.
In most cases, if B dies before A, then B's share would go down B's bloodline but it would depend on exactly what the will says.0 -

Good to know
I thought and hoped that would be the case.
