Hotel Booking

Hi,
I booked and stayed at a hotel through booking.com, this was for one night on 30th July 2014. On arrival we were told that the card machine wasn't working and that they could only take cash this weekend. I paid cash on checkout and thought nothing more about it. I have checked my bank statement and they have taken 2 further payments one on 27th August and one on 2nd September. I am unable to contact the hotel as their phones are temporarily disconnected. Booking.com have advised that they are having problems with the phone server but have received an email asking for 48 hours to investigate the complaint, 48 hours has been and gone with no response. I do not have the receipt for the cash sale as I paid at checkout - I knew I wouldn't be asking for a refund etc. What can I do, I have proof that 2 payments have been taken from my account a month after staying with them - which is odd in itself.

Name the hotel.
Did you pay by visa debit or credit card?
Sounding like pure criminality .0 -
Contact your bank, tell them they were unauthorised transactions and ask for a chargeback.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

We had similar via otel, com. We paid on otel.com about 10 minutes prior to arriving. The hotel said it hadn't come through yet but they manually take the payment through otel so they'd refuse it, so they price matched, what turned out we had already paid.
Enjoyed the hotel so stayed another night, did it at same price as night before.
Get home etc, check bank, we'd paid twice for one night and once for the other. Rang hotel, they said it was otel.coms fault, otel.com said it was hotel's fault. It was the hotel who ended up refunding, after I sent them my invoice though and otel.com confirmation. Took a couple of weeks but got there in the end.
Oh also forgot to mention that during that I rang my bank (First Direct) who did a chargeback on otel.com, it was after that that it was decided the hotel need to refund me, so the bank took the money back again for that but if you get it sussed before you ring the bank it might be a lot smoother for you. Hope it is!0
