    Hi,

I also got turn down for the Co-op account.

But had no problems with getting a Nationwide Flex account, which i applied for online. Also by applying online it gives a instant status of success.

    Hope that is of help,

Some confusion in past posts about co-op....did you mention your bankrupcy? the odd occasion they seem to think your applying for a standard account debit card cheque book etc

i'd ring and speak to someone for clarification

I applied to Co-op for a joint basic acct for myself and dh. we were turned down and I wrote a "nice" letter of complaint explaining that I was a discharged bankrupt and that i had recently gone back to work to try to build a better future for myself and family etc, i also acknowledged i had made a mistake previously with spending but that i was trying to rectify it now. Anyway about a week later, both myself and dh received visa electron cards in the post from Co-op! I phoned to check that we did have an acct etc and the lady on the phone couldn't be more helpful!:money:

Nationwide accounts may still be available. Try applying online at:

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/apply.htm

When I applied for mine there was a box to tick to say that you were bankrupt, and applying online will normally give an immediate decision.

It means that Nationwide is processing your details and it could take a few days before they confirm that you have been accepted.

As regards your wages, is it possible to ask your employer to pay you either in cash, or by cheque, this month? Failing that, can you get paid into the account of a family member, or trusted friend, until you have had your account confirmed?
