no idea of the heating affect from houses next door, my guess is you probably may not gain much heat but you are probably not losing much either.

I know my outside walls are cold in the winter, if there were houses both sides I'm sure that would reduce my heating bill.

I am thinking the same as you.

Another item to add to the list of other possibly unthought of costs, didn't include hot water for floors and other cleaning.

I know this is low... but could it be done?

It can be done if you use gas for heating:
For the period: 2 July 2013 to 1 July 2014
Your gas usage summary: 1,093.21 kWh
    Your total costs were: £59.28
The figures above include heating, hot water, and gas hob. It was on the Ebico tariff, in a two bed mid-terrace house, with gas central heating, double glazing, and loft insulation. I had set the heating at 16°C to come on for a couple of hours in the mornings and evenings (weekdays), and all day (weekends).

I'm thinking of not using any gas, only electrical heaters. 2 rooms a day in winter, 500w heating, 8 hours, = 8kw - around a £1.

£30 a month for November - March. Heating not really needed for the other months as can wear jumpers etc, doesn't really bother me!

    Am I dreaming?

Dreaming you say. You are in cuckoo land. By not heating the house adequately can cause a lot of problems for the house and in the end will cost you more.

16°C is fine if you're wearing suitable clothes. At that temperature I wear thermal long pants & vest under my normal clothes.

Do you have a reference for what temperatures might cause problems with a house? Obviously below 8°C will cause problems, but could there be problems above 8°C?

One possibility is to have an open fire/wood burner and collect your own wood. I scavenge about a third of our wood burner's consumption just by picking up logs in the woods and asking to take the debris when somebody is having a new fence installed. Skips are w0rth keeping an eye on, too, for pallets. Every bit of scrap wood I see is free heat.

Would be interesting to see if you could maintain such low costs in a year where we actually had a winter.

I take it you are on a NSC tariff?
