Reversed into a car and drove off, but returned!
20 years driving, no accidents and last week I reversed in to the side of a parked car. Don't ask me why but I panicked and quickly drove off. I got down the road and then asked myself what the hell I was doing and drove back to the scene of the accident.
When I got back there had been witnesses anyway and the car owner was there and I expected to get some verbal abuse but I was pretty lucky as he thanked me for returning! Anyway he was adamant he didn't want to go via my insurance as he thought it would effect his NCB, even though I was at fault and we agreed a cash sum which was not much compared to the damage so I got off lightly (got a signed letter and to be honest he had an old banger so think he was glad for the cash).
The problem is I keep beating myself up over driving away, it was a good 5-10 mins before I had negotiated the traffic to get back and the worse of it is that I just rented a house in that very street so the neighbours will always know me as the woman who fled the scene of the crime!
Am I bad person? Will I ever live this shame down?

Only if you do not adopt a positive mental attitude, the case is resolved now (hopefully) and both party's are content with the settlement.0 -
You went back. Job done.0

in the heat of the moment we can all make an error. Once you'd had time to think your honest and decent side came to light and you did the right thing.
Don't be hard on yourself, a silly mistake you soon put right
