Ms & Redundancy

My partner has MS & is now unable to work. His company BT are now cutting his wages by half. So he has deciced to get out now as the stress is bad on his health, & take voluntary redundancy. Two years wages plus 10 % if he gets out by 31st July. Will he be able to go on incapacity benefit straight away or does he have to live on his redundancy for the next two years. Also does his ex wife get any - as he pays maintenance for his two kids. Bearing in mind that he will no longer have any income & this has to last until he reaches 60 (he is 49 now). When he does go on benefits - how does he pay his wife then? We were also wondering about paying off the mortgage with his redundancy payment as this will be one less bill to have to worry about. Any help with the above would be great. Thanking you in anticipation.

IB is not means-tested as regards income and savings but if he has an Occupational Pension of over £85 per week it will be reduced by 50p for every £1 over £85.
Can't help with the rest I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0
