Fuerteventura - what to avoid

Thinking of a short break in April, any pointers as what to avoid on the island appreciated. Is Corralejo a good place to visit?

  • I loved Corralejo. But that was a decade ago.

Stunning beach once you move away from the town. Full of naked Germans too.

The Jandia and Costa Calma used to be the places to get away from civilisation.

I love Fuertuventura and I stay near Corralejo around twice a year. It can be windy but the climate is lovely, warm and sunny .

been twice in recent years, Jandia and Costa Calma area. Driven round and across the whole island, didn't like what I saw of Corralejo but I'm sure like everywhere there are nice parts and not-so-nice parts.

We go quite often to Caleta - not a lot to be on your guard about, apart from the cheap+evil San Miguel...

Corralejo is quite a way from the airport, so check out transfers. Bus service is pretty good - most of them run to/from the capital Puerto del Rosario so airport to Corralejo needs a change.

As to which resort - are you wanting to do much other than having a look around, eating, drinking and pool-lounging?

Airport is great - couple of open air cafes airside so you can get a last-minute tan (and/or ciggie) although the cheeseburgers at the north end have gone down the nick last couple of years.
