Bankruptcy Credit Score

I was bankrupt over 6 years ago. This is now off of my credit file. However the defaults are still showing that were included in the bankruptcy... Do i have to wait 6 years since the last default? or should these have come off at the same time as they were in the bankruptcy?

Thanks in advance

You should have the default dates corrected so that they are no later than your bankruptcy order date.

See ---> Credit Reference File Clean Up Post Bankruptcy

Once corrected, the accounts will disappear from your credit file just as the bankruptcy order did.

  • Thank you for that...

One of my creditors was EGG, but now shows as Prudential Banking on my credit record... do i send the letter to the Prudential Banking as its that, which is showing on the credit report? As i can only find the one address for them in London.

    Many thanks
  • You could contact the CRAs to dispute this.

Should be pretty obvious, and they should contact the creditor for you.

You can, though personally I would write as well, as it covers all 3 CRAs and makes it easier to go on to the ICO/FOS later is you can show exhausted all routes by also writing direct.

You write to whatever company is now reporting the entry on your report.

  • I wrote to my crediters and I've had a reply from lloyds..

They have said " having checked our files I can confirm that the account has been updated with the credit reference agencies to mark the default as partially satisfied. This entry will remain registered on file for a period of six years, from the date of default in line with the consumer act 1974"

I was bankrupt over 6 years ago and this debt was included. Am I right in thinking, this should not be showing on my credit report.

Is the "default "date later than the date of your bankruptcy order? If so, by how long?

What sort of debt was this?

I went b/r in the July of 2008 and the first default shows as December 2008.. But they have been showing defaults on my credit file as upto July this year. Which I found odd as I went b/r in 2008.

    It's a lloyds credit card.

Then it will drop off your file in December 2014 (this year) regardless anyway.

Lloyds should have backdated the initial default to July 2008 which would mean it would already have dropped off.

So your choice is to wait until December when it will drop off anyway, or complain again now to see if you get it off before then as Lloyds should have done with your first complaint.

Thank you... That is what I thought but wasn't 100% sure

    Thanks ever such a lot.
