Does anyone compete in village fates?

We have an annual fate with various competitions, this year there's a photography section and DD would like to enter (she's 16, so not a child entry).

I emailed for details of the time to drop the photo off as it was a little vague on the leaflet.

The reply back was that we can drop it off from 9am, and his brother will help us set up any presentation with it :eek:

Now all we've done is print out the photo..... do we 'display' it somehow? In a frame, is that enough? It's of our dog, we could take his lead etc or is that too much.........

I'm starting to think we won't even enter now, it was just a little bit of fun, but I'm thinking maybe we should have put more effort in.....

Can anyone advise? It's tomorrow so we do have today to 'play' with :rotfl:
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

  • If it's a photography competition, then I can't see the harm in just popping your photo in a frame.

I am sure they will advise you when you get there, if you need to do anything else. :)
  • Mount it and frame it.
I'm not sure where the lead comes into it?

They will have them on display so it should be mounted. I woukldn't bother with any "props" though. Let the photo speak for itself.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Me have this at the village show, not so much the fete but framing it will be perfectly fine.
  • It needs to be mounted. You can buy the mounting board from an art shop, or failing that, if you've got a Dunelm near you, then they sell it. Leave a 2/2 1/2" border round the photograph.

You could always frame it too, but usually mounting it is enough. If you want a cheap frame, go to Wilkinsons, they have some good ones.

Good luck to your daughter! I love photography competitions!

Thank you everyone. I think I got a bit worried over nothing. We can find a frame and mount I'm sure. I thinking it needed a big display, maybe I've been watch to much of Kirsty Alsop.

I went to a fete a couple of weeks ago with a photo competition. The pictures were all pinned to a board. Some were mounted, some weren't. It didn't seem to make any difference prize wise.
  • Love fetes and photography! What is a DD? Get this person to make an abstract collage of the photo taken in various different lights and effects. Use photoshop if you have it and stand out from the crowd :D
