How long do flower bulbs that have been planted in a garden remain viable for please?

That is, how many years will daffodil and crocus type bulbs in my garden keep popping up and flowering each year at the appropriate time?

(I would imagine they would only do so for a few years and then die off? Or would they keep on "coming back" and reappearing in full flower even many years later?)

But not true for every form of bulb. A few prefer lifting.

Bulbs in the ground do multiply themselves, new bulbs will form the older ones will eventually stop flowering but are replaced with the new bulbs so over time the clump will last for many years. Of course they can be dug up and eaten by various things mice or squirrels for example. I have clumps of bulbs that have flowered for 9/10yrs.
