Morning all,
bahh rubbish nights sleep for me. I went to bed early because I was tired. Hubby woke me up when he came to bed and by that time I'd had enough sleep to stop me going off again....I played on my phone, I let the dog out, I was hot, hubby was snoring in my ear blah blah blah!.... 'Youngest' crept in during the early hours and then I decided to get up. I think I must have had three hours all night! I'm shattered!
Off to do the grocery shopping later, just the usual Saturday stuff.
Hester I hope all goes well with your daughter. I'm a bit surprised she's gone to work if she's in early labour.
Islandmaid I hope you enjoy your honeymoon trip. Hope the weather is nice for you.
Tru, hope things work out with the job.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning All
It was lovely here earlier then a thick fog descended. It's clearing a bit now so shall put the washing out.
Been to H0mebase for paint and varnish - made the mistake of priming and undercoating the shelves with acrylic paint, will have to sand them again as when DD went to put the eggshell on it just sat there! Silly me.
Hope to paint the ceiling twice and make a start on the walls today, the builder isn't back till at least Wednesday to lay the floor so I want to have it done by then. Seems such a mammoth task, I was nearly in tears last night trying to work out what to do first!
DD has tried my patience this week. We are trading my car and hers and they want both keys for them. I knew we had them but she decided to tell me on Thursday night that she couldn't find one. Cue lots of searching, blaming DS2, etc and they turned up in one of her handbags! Looked for the V5s and MOT certificates this morning and guess who's MOT was missing? Lots of moaning by me and eventually found it shoved in the cupboard where we keep all the paperwork - so close to the file too!
HH - I'm sure your DD will be happier keeping busy, just hope her waters don't go!
Islandmaid - I lived in Gosport for a couple of years, quite liked it really. Enjoy your 'honeymoon'!
JackieO - Sounds like you have a busy week ahead, hope you enjoy them all.
tru - Congratulations on the job, so good when something like that happens. May your leg continue to get stronger.
Snoozer - I was in York earlier this year, would have liked to have seen the stonemasons at work but friends had other ideas - like sitting in Bettys for 4 hours - I was not happy.
Lily - I love your posts, they remind me of the children's puzzles you used to get where a picture made up part of the sentence!
Hope all the poorlies are feeling better and you all have a super weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone
Bad night for both me and DH and he ended up kicked out of bed and on GDD's futon bed in spare room
I am seriously peed off with DD who has borrowed last week of month's budget until she gets her student loan. She has wasted most of it on meals out and things she does not need and was supposed to repay it at midnight. Is it in our bank this morning? No!
RedRuby - it sounds like you have exactly the same lurgy as us and DH has had it for a week now. Hope you get better soon
Hester - why on earth has your DD gone into work if she is in labour? My BF had planned on working until 2 weeks before her youngest was born but 3 weeks before he was due, her waters broke in Tesco on her way home from work, she was dashed to hospital and just got there in time, giving birth on the trolley on the way to the labour ward. She said she wouldn't recommend it to anyone but she did get a very nice stash of baby goodies from Tesco a few weeks later :rotfl:
IslandMaid - I love the sound of the honeymoon cruise! Have a lovely day out x
Right I am getting a Lemsip and going back to bed with my book until I feel like getting up, the weekend jobs can wait but will put a load of washing on to go out later.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning everyone. Late start for me today as I slept long and well.
Day is glorious and I really want to get out there.
Yesterday I drove up past Oban to a lovely little independent garden centre (with a tea room overlooking the sea) and got two beautiful terracotta pots and some pansies and violas. I spent a very pleasant hour planting up the pots which are now outside my front door. One is bright blue and is an exact match to the door, and one is a deep red. Now I want another couple!
My neighbours and I then sat outside drinking wine until the sun went down - a real sundowner session with a bright red sun fading away and swallows diving around the sky. An idyllic evening indeed.
Today it's back to washing and cleaning the house. And I will go for a walk along the canal tow path - there's still lots of yachts and cruisers going up and down the canal so plenty to watch and lots of people to stop and talk to.
Car has first MOT next week so will need to clear out the boot and back seats. Got so much stuff in there, the boot has a bottom well where the spare tyre used to be. Car has the 'modern' self inflator contraption/pump and so no spare tyre, but the manufacturers still build the well where it used to fit. Mine has a single duvet stuffed in there along with assorted other stuff (data projector, first aid kit, winter emergency kit, spare water, spare shoes etc etc) which will all need removed. <sigh>
Anyway, hope all is well with everyone. All the holiday plans being revealed are really interesting and making me think about next year now already.
Happy Saturday everyone.0 -
Hi All
DD is on number 4, she goes to work on Saturdays for a rest, lol, she usually takes 48 hours, so she'll let me know if anything occurs. Thanks for all your good wishes.

Good Morning everyone, short night for us too courtesy of one of the houses in the next road over that backs on to our gardens having a loud party that went on into the early hours. I thought it was a disturbance in the village when I first heard all the shouting. Woke at 5ish because the dog disturbed so we're feeling a bit flat today. We've bathed the dog, He Who Knows has headed off to the allotment and I've just finished a tidy up and vacuum of the house. Washing is in machine and then I'm going to wash all the dog towels we've just dried him with and get them clean and dry for winter.
Not much planned for this afternoon, which is probably just as well, I'm sure we'll both find ourselves waking up after a cat nap at some time. I've got half a pound of mince left that is going to be turned into something for supper tonight but as of now, inspiration is completely absent so I'll have to get the recipe books out for some ideas.
Have yourselves a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning, ((((((((hugs))))))))) if you need one. US friends MIL is still with us, now in hospice care, they are just keeping her comfortable until the end. Drs have told them 72 hours at the most. She and her late husband moved to live oin a house on the same plot as my friend, not sutre what they will do with the house when she has gone.
Bright sunny morning, but a coolish wind, I was late getting up OH brought me my breakfast in bed which was lovely. Showered, dressed and downstairs we have just enjoyed a cup of tea in the garden.
Hester... hope all goes well with your daughter......48 hours is a long time.
No plans for the day, just supper to cook..........0 -
Hester,
With DS we went shopping for a new bathroom - every time I stopped for a contraction the nervous shop assistants would ask when I was due. When I replied, 8 days ago they would start to panic. I finally told DH that he'd deliver the baby before he believed I was in labour. We got to hospital with a couple of hours to spare.0
