This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Hope no-one minds me starting the thread off today.
Well, it's Saturday - a chance for some people to lie in bed for an extra hour or two and I've been up since 5a.m! I've left everyone snoring and parked myself in the kitchen
I have a friend and two of her children coming to visit today. The younger ones can go and play outside whilst we natterOH will make himself scarce no doubt. I want to make some sort of cake before she gets here so just going to have a nosy at some past threads and see if anything takes my fancy.
Bathrooms and washing are on my list for today. They're on my list most mornings as there always seems a mountain of washing and the bathrooms are never clean it seems. I also need to make a couple of loaves of bread and make enough dough so everyone can have pizza later

Morning :hello:
Mr tru met his mate for a cuppa, and he offered me a jobI wasn't even there, lol. He said to ring him when I get back from my holiday and we'll have a chat. So I should be working part time - probably only a couple of mornings per week - before mid-october.
Miss tru is off to Portugal with her boyfriend and his family today, actually she's probably already landed. She's never flown before and was really nervousJust waiting for a phone call from her, she's bound to ring and tell me how relieved she is that she survived the flight

Had some slow cooked stewing beef and mushrooms for tea last night, with potatoes and kale from the garden. The beef had been reduced down to a third of the original price so I was very happy
I rushed around getting things done yesterday while mr tru was out, so not much to do today. The washing's on, and another load is waiting to go in. I've got a couple of things to post, so will walk to the post office and have a bit of detour on the way back to get my leg moving a bit more. I miss going for long walks (didn't realise how much I liked them until I couldn't manage them). I'll soon be able to march over the hill (well, the nice tidy path goes around it and partly over the bottom part!) to my fave pub

Morning jhmd666 & all who cross post & follow
I'm the only one up so far, hubby & DGS still snoring away.
DD's labour hasn't speeded up so she's off to work soon.
I have the DW & WM chugging away, I'm going to get the car washed later & I'm going to make a batch of leek & potato soup to take to MIL's.
Tomorrow I'm planning on making a batch of whisky marmalade & maybe starting off some mead, yummy.
Time I got showered & dressed.
Have a good day everyone

I did some washing last night so its going on the line outside as soon as I'm decent,(don't think the neighbours could take me in me nightie at this time of the day, or anytime come to think of it:):))
looks like its going to be a nice day though so it will get dried hopefully.
I'll try to get it ironed this afternoon (after my snooze though ).Apart from that nothing very exciting happening at chez nous.
I have a busy week next week though, on ednesday I am off to Canterbury as my DGD graduates, and we are having a family meal out to celebrate. Then on Friday morning I am flying up to Aberdeen with my eldest DD where we will pick up a car and drive down to Brechin. My cousins from Australia and Canada are over visiting so we are all meeting up. Should be a good knees up by Friday night:):) we fly home on Saturday night, then next Sunday my DGS Ben goes off to Uni.
Normality should be restored by the following Monday though:):) so I shall do my best to get everything done this weekend
Hope everyone has a great weekend and the sun shines down on you all. <<hugs for the poorlies and downhearted >>

:wave:Happy Saturday everyone
Looks a dry but cooler day here in Hampshire.
Oh and I took the dog for a walk yesterday around the nature reserve. We walked around the lakes and the dog had several swims.
Oh was not happy as he had just had his car washed inside and out ready for our mid week break next week. The dog ran around a bit before deciding she did not want to jump back in the boot of car. She was having fun and did not want to go home.
Spent an hour ironing last night wile watching the soaps.
Then watched the film - Blue lagoon.
Seen that film a few times now.
No set plans for going out today.
Will be cooking a fruit cake wile the oven is on for dinner.
Need a cake for picnics next week.
Have a thrifty day.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

Hi everyone,
I'm up early for a Saturday but we have to go across to Mum's to meet an estate agent now that we have given p on finding a developer to take it off our hands. It will be a great project for someone.
We had a lovely ay yesterday in York. We knew the Minster stonemason's yard was open so we went to have a look. It was fascinating, I love watching people doing traditional crafts and when you talk to them they are so passionate. We were taken up to the top of the East front in the stone lift to see some of the work in situ. The new St Peter statue is brilliant but the best things were the grotesques (not gargoyles because they weren't water spouts). These were all figures suffering from medieval ailments and were beautifully done. One of the figures was mooning and we were told by one of the carvers that he faced the office window.
Hester, I hope your daughter doesn't have to wait too long.0
