Chimney Inspection Quotes

Hi all I'm brand new here so hope I have posted this in the correct place.

I've just bought my first home and need to get the open chimney in the front room swept and inspected. I know the chimney has not been used for the last four years, but I don't know if it was used before that.

I have contacted several sweeps where I live and only 2 have responded with very different quotes. Sweep 1 has quoted £80 to sweep, smoke test and CCTV the chimney. Sweep 2 has quoted £48 to sweep and smoke test the chimney, he said I only need CCTV if he finds a blockage etc and this would cost £150. I have checked their credentials and both are members of the guild of master sweeps etc.

My confusion/worry comes from such a huge difference in price with the CCTV, £80 vs £150. Does anyone have any experience with this and have a rough idea of the costings?

Thanks so much for any help.

If sweep 1 is using his camera kit every time as against sweep 2 only when needed then sweep 1 'camera kit cost per visit' is going to be much less.

Personally I would be going with sweep 2, a sweep and a smoke test would be fine for me and £48 sounds an about right price (we pay £25 for a sweep)
