iWeb - purchasing foreign equity.

Hi

So I am looking to see what the cost of buying foreign share is for my iweb ISA share account.

It does say the foreign currency conversion charge is 1.5%. So that's 3% cost to start with. (Extortionate !)

If you have experience dealing foreign share with iweb can you tell me what their spreads are like on currency conversion and the share dealing as well.

While I think iWeb is great, I personally wouldn't buy in foreign currency as there are cheaper platforms elsewhere.

Can you give me some suggestions ? what would be a typical transaction cost (round trip) as a % of investment ?

I think TD Direct charge 2% currency conversion for normal transaction sizes, reducing for larger transaction sizes. But, they allow you to have a US$ account so you can trade in US$ I think, not sure on the mechanics of it, but that might give you some pointers to research.
