Help with benefits and starting work

  • When I started work in june my HB was suspended (only reinstated 2 weeks ago) but I was given a 4 week run on of Carers & IS. I was given a run on for HB but also only received that 2 weeks ago as they were waiting for me to give them my second wage slip plus confirmation of my carers and IS cases being closed. In the end they acctually received the confirmation direct from DWP and they also knew my WTC award before I did! it is a nightmare but I hope you have better luck with your LA than i did - they wouldn't budge!
  • Thanks every body for your words of support and advice. I've taken it all on board and I've emailed the housing complaints mail box, appealing my case.
If I knew it was all going to be so stressful I would have delayed my start date. My son has a social communication disorder and suffered from anxiety. School is a nightmare he just cries hysterically from 5am in the morning all through his school time until lunch. I have to pay for a round trip from Bromley to vauxhall to welling (to collect him from my parents as school put him on 1/2 days) back to bromley. I have no idea how I'm going to pay this travel after next week.
Plus travel to his anxiety appointments next week.
I really don't like to play on a sob story but I'm hoping they see me as a case that they can help.
I do know about food banks as I was volunteering with social services helping families who are under privileged enough to have their children on the child protection register.
I'll let you all know if I have any luck
  • It's a real eye opener when you become the service user and not the worker, I know
Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool
