Might as well get into practice so when I actually start working again I have no excuses - batch baking here I come :D

Sounds like a great idea. We find it really useful. There are currently 2 of us in the house, so DW cooks 2 batches at a time meaning that we have 2 serves of 2 meals and only need the oven on once!

We also use a steamer for a variety of reasons, but it helps to cut down water usage and electric costs on the hobs.

Hope it goes well for you. Will look forward to seeing any recipes you put up!

  • Well yesterday was interesting went to the "hole in the wall" to get the last of my money out. Transaction was going through when all of a sudden card was given back - and screen advised transaction was stopped. Annoying but not too worrying; went to check later and money has been taken from account even though not dispensed!!

Cue raising a dispute with the bank - all fine but that was the last of my money for the month (pay day end of month)

So now have no money until then - good job I had batch baked/cooked. As I am also due to go and do a big shop after getting store cupboard and freezer down so I can "autumn" clean the kitchen.

Luckily I had enough for milk but that was it, so lasanga and mince pie are now my saviors till payday ;) -

I could take money out of savings but am loath to do this for a couple of days :rotfl:

Silver Lining - the weather has been lovely in our part of the world x

  • Well have completed a three month budget plan - it is only three months as am unsure as to when a wage will come in after this date

Shopping has been completed to a mini menu plan of two weeks - but I should be able to get most of the months main meals if I use portion control and then freeze - instead of my usual - Ooops it has gone off; lets bin it............

Money has been drawn out of the bank and put in appropriate budget "purses"

Checked my banking today and the £20 has not been refunded so will have to chase that up tomorrow

and I change internet provider tomorrow so we shall see how straight forward that is soon :D

Yaaay - back online properly :j

Thanks TimmySaver - me too about the budget - one can but hope x

£20 was transferred back into my bank yesterday - so am pleased about that.

May have made a mistake in transferring from BT - that will teach me to look at the small print properly - no one to blame but myself though; so will pay up after looking into charges properly.

    Hey Ho onwards and upwards

Silver Lining today; Coffee out with a lovely friend and a nice catch up x

    Morning on Sardine Saturday :D

Thus called as this is the day that my hounds get sardines with their breakfast :rotfl:

Not much planned today; I am now working to a "sort of" menu plan and this does seem to be working. So cauliflower cheese is on the menu for today

Instead of having set meals on set days; I have a group of recipes and "quick meals" for which I have all the ingredients in. Then decide each day what I am going to have. So I had sausage casserole the other day and froze another two portions meaning when I fancy it again it is just a case of defrosting and sticking it in the microwave.

It has saved me money as each time I have thought I will just nip to the shop for something. I have mentally pulled myself up and gone to the fridge or freezer instead - and have made a meal instead.

Silver Lining: A lovely bright hello and good morning fuss from my hounds xx

  • Bit of a "meeh" day here - all my new found enthusiasm seems to have left me :o

On the plus side I have meals ready for the rest of the week and a meal out with friend planned :D

Tomorrow I am phoning HR about something which is causing me some stress but needs to be done - I just know I am going to sound stupid - but it needs saying even though nothing will be done and I am leaving my job anyhow.

Silver lining - lovely day for drying washing and walking hounds - Oh and I have restarted my knitting so things must be improving :rotfl:

  • I really like your silver linings! They make me smile and are a great way to balance things out.

I really hope that your call to HR goes well and that they are supportive.

I wish we had your weather! We started the day with no electricity (apparently for around 2000 homes!) and it's still raining and very windy! Silver lining? I'm indoors and plan to be all day! ;)

  • Still managing to stick to my budget here "oop north"

Things are a bit difficult here so I am not feeling like posting - I always think that misery is best left to sort itself :rotfl:

Things are going to remain very difficult until at least the 21st of this month so may not be posting much :o

After this though am hoping to start feeling better and get my focus and mortgage busting mojo back x

Silver Lining - Discovered a new coffee shop which is quaint and very nice and am in the process of making bread which will be followed by twinks hob nobs being made tomorrow
