Just an update-I did offer on this property shortly after my op in September for 180k, it was rejected. Last week I increased the offer to 182k, it was still rejected. I haven't offered anymore, I don't think the vendor actually wants to sell. Even the EA was trying to get me to offer on another property while I was offering on that one.
I checked the rightmove history and the property was for sale last year for 178k but was removed from sale.
I have now forgotten about this property.
  • I think often it's a bit of everything. So the garden's a bit small, it's a bit overpriced, it's "offers over" (which most buyers find offputting), the layout's a bit odd, maybe the agent's not terribly proactive... Sometimes you get a house where there's nothing terrible wrong, and if they dropped the price they'd sell in a flash, but as it stands it's just never going to be anyone's first choice.

The house that we should be completing on in less than two weeks (!!) was on the market since 2011.

The vendors paid 330k in 2006 and it was on at 389k for a long time.

They reduced to 365k in March this year, we offered at 340k in late July and we had an offer of 350k accepted in August.

I have no idea why it was on for so long as it's completely perfect - in my book anyway.

I think the utterly incompetent agents may have had something to do with it. Initially they refused to let us view as my other half had viewed a rental flat with them in 2009, so 5 years later they didn't think he would be in a position to buy :rotfl:
