Nemesia

I was surprised this year with three Nemesia plants that sprung into life. I'd thought they were annuals and never got around to hauling them out last year.

They have been so pretty this year - very abundant and bright. It might have been that our winter was very mild but does anyone know if there is anything I can do make them last another year? They are still in full flower now - that's been since May.

(almost makes up for my disastrous sweet peas which are only really flowering now!)

I think nemesia is a bi-annual, so you might not be lucky, but could you put a cloche over the top of them? It has to be worth a try.

I bought some plugs of nemesia about 6 years ago to go in my hanging baskets. I forgot to empty the basket the first year and come springtime, I could see new shoots emerging so cut down all the old brown stems.

They are still going strong and have flowered every year for about 8 months at a time. They are now in a large pot, going to try cutting it in half in spring and having 2 pots worth. They have a gorgeous scent :)
There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word which means more to me than any other. That word is England.
