Help to get refund for holiday

I have booked a 2 week holiday leaving 24th Oct to Jamaica and have just been diagnosed with cancer and won't be able to go on this holiday, but when trying to cancel we have been told that we will only get half of the money back... We do have annual travel insurance that is still in date and they have said that after the £100 excess we will get £900 refund. We paid £4700 for the holiday so we are still going to be down over £1300, can anyone help with some advice please..

Your figures are not stacking up.

If your holiday insurance has only 100 excess you should be getting 4600 back.

At the start you say you will get half back....

Then yu say you will lose 1300
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

    sorry to hear your news.

Have you spoken to your dr to get advice if it would help your health buy going on this holiday?
  • I think OP means they will get 50% back from the travel company ie. £2350, and £1000 less £100 excess from travel insurance.
Why will Insurance Company only give you £1000 back?

Hi sorry the travel agent will give us half and our own insurance is only liable for £1000 less excess of £100.
  • Yes the Doc has said no travelling on a plane.
  • We chose only to take the cancellation of £1000 but mega cover while being on holiday.... We didn't envisage having to cancel for any reason.

If that's what you chose then that's what you will get.

  • Are you sure the policy doesn't cover you for £1,000 per person for cancellation cover.
