Creda Panel Heaters 1500
Hello I have creda panel heaters hardwired into my electricity and they work off the timer or independently. They are very expensive to run in the winter. Three of them are broken and I want to replace them. Does anyone know of a more economical electric heater? My flat is electric only. Thanks

Electric heaters are electric heaters, there's little that can be done, other than looking at the problem in a different way...
If you only want to heat the objects, not the air, in the room, you can look at infra red panels.
You could store the energy after taking it overnight at a lower rate (economy 7) using storage heaters.
If you have high levels of insulation and a reasonably airtight structure you can install an air to air heat pump which is more expensive, but much cheaper to run (assuming you have the requisite insulation levels).
Improving the insulation and lowering heat loss from the flat will also help of course.0 -
I think I am mainly heating air
I dont have storage heaters and they are quite expensive to buy
I have had people to look at insulation and it is a fairly new building and have been told there is nothing more I can do to insulate0 -
As above. All electric heaters are the same efficiency (100%), so cost the same to run for the same kWh rating. So buy the cheapest.
Or consider switching to E7 and NSH's. Yes, they cost more to install, but a third of the cost to run.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
follyfoot, do you know the heat loss from the house in terms of kW? Did you get an EPC when you moved into the flat? It will say on that assuming you moved in the past few years. It may also suggest some alternative heating options. You can find the EPC with a simple address search at https://www.epcregister.com/reportSearchAddressTerms.html?redirect=reportSearchAddressByStreetTown
What are the current ratings on the panel heaters? 1.5kW? How many do you have?
EPCs aren't necessarily particularly accurate but can serve as a good starting point.
Whatever is the case, to save more you will probably have to spend more. Also consider how long you will be staying in the flat.
Do you own the flat?0
