hi all
does this apply if i live in the US for a while? I'm going to be working in America for four months later this year and was planning on buying an electric drum kit whilst i was there, as I'm after one anyway and it would keep me amused for a few months whilst i'm there, then i'll just ship it back before i come back
obviously it will have four months use by the time i come back... can they still charge me import duty on that? even though i've paid sales tax in the US?0 -
^^ chances are they'l hit you for tax
mark the package as a low value and a gift and it might sail through0 -

Yep they can - to bring it it free you have to have owned it 6 months AND live in the US for 12 months.
You might get away with declaring a second hand value though.

But don't forget if it is four months old then when you bring it back into the coutnry it will be second hand and the value will be much less.0

would i need a receipt to prove that?0
