No official Gas supplier - Advice please

Where do I start. A few months ago I was supplied with both my Gas and Electricity by Npower. I got a knock on my door from a British Gas salesman telling me all the benfits to joining British Gas. At this point I said I wouldn't sign up with them until they could prove that my bills would be cheaper. The salesman said that if I sign a form consenting to them accessing my bills they could then provide me with a full comparison. So... like a fool I signed this form without reading fully (as I was short of time due to my 2 kids having the run of the house while I was at the door). A few days later I receive a letter welcoming me to British Gas... It seems I had be conned into signing a switchover form. So.... I then rang BG telling them I wasn't happy and decided to switch back to Npower. My electricity went quite smoothly.... but it seems that my gas didn't as BG wouldn't accept the request from NPower... unknown to me. So... without knowing, I was still being supplied by British Gas. A couple of months later, out of the blue.... I receive a cheque for £40 from BG as a closing figure as I overpaid them.... I rang them and they said that my account had been closed as I was moving supplier. Great I thought. So... a couple of months on I ring NPower to check my bill and it seems they are not supplying my gas.... and neither are British Gas.... so who is and what do I do ?... and am I going to owe somebody money ?

try phoning transco to see who they have listed as supplier, and take it from there

Try and find out if your gas site is an IGT (Independant gas transporter site) rather than nat grid

if so, its possible that nopwer are supplying you but they dont know it.
