Talk Talk.. Shocking service

I apologise in advance for this rant.
Earlier on in the year, talk talk supposedly sent me a letter informing me of price increases and giving me the option to leave.
I spoke to them and ask when i would receive this letter, they said they couldn't do anything till i had the letter in my hand. Fast forward a few months..
I have been having problems watching their 'internet channels' (ones not in the basic package/freeview) spent 1 and a half hours on the phone yesterday, to be accused of lying and spoken to disgustingly i was so shocked with the attitude. They said they could check the postal service to check i received this letter ( with a threatening attitude( i told them to go ahead with this.
Now for their mistake i have the pleasure of being told to pay £200 to leave them by yet again rude staff.
Most people i have spoke to have had problems with them, anyone else had similar issues or with rude staff? Regret leaving sky for this shocking service.

  • I also asked to be put through to a manager and they point blanked refused. I asked to be put through to the technical team, yet they kept putting me to the wrong staff. Do any staff in talk talk have a clue what they are doing?I must of spoke to 10+ staff about these issues and not one has helped me.

You can normally get a helpful response if you post on the TT Users Forum.

It depends how far you want to push it really. It is up to them to prove they sent you the letter and if it comes down to it to prove when you received it. This is why we are always told you use recorded delivery for anything legal etc.

This being the case you could tell them you are not happy and complain about it. Make sure you record all calls etc so you have proof that you have spoken to them and that they are stonewalling you. Then leave and pay the cancellation charge. Then write to them reclaiming the cancellation charge. Detail that they did not send the letter like they claimed, detail that they have been unable to prove they even sent the letter (let alone prove you received it). If they continue to be obstructive (they will) then send them an LBA and take them to court to recover the money. Its very, very easy to do a claim and TT wont turn up to contest (because they know it would be a total waste of their time and more money).

At the end of the day the law is clear. They have to give you notice of the changes and you then have the right to leave without penalty. If they cant prove they gave you notice then as far as the law is concerned they never gave that notice.
  • My aunty had some real issues with TalkTalk a while ago. She's not so tech savvy so I assisted and spoke to the 'technical service' team. After talking through why her broadband was dog slow and barely worked, I was escalated to 'second line support' on a different number and still they couldn't fix the issue. You have to be very specific with them I find

i too have had the same sort of problems with Talk Talk regarding unhelpful rude staff. The best way I found to get proper answers was to chat online to them, they won't cut you off or pass you around like they do on the phone and they finally came up with something tangible. Also, before you end the conversation, save it (there is a facility to do this on the window) so you have proof of what they have said.
