  • The LA may well get more in fees by bringing new tenants in. There have been posts on this forum - I'm afraid I don't recall any titles - where the tenant spoke to the LL and discovered the LA had fabricated the story on both sides. I was once phoned by my landlord when I gave notice to leave to the LA as he wanted to check they were telling the truth when they told him I wanted to leave. Might be worth giving the landlord a quick ring just to check.

Unfortunately, I don't have a contact number for the LL. All contact has to go through the LA...conveniently

Landlords don't usually just ask someone to leave for no reason. It usually costs them in voids and sprucing the place up for the next tenant, not to mention the finders fee payable to the agent.

Something has happened. The landlord now views you as someone with whom they longer wish to do business.

Possibly it wasn't what the boyfriend said but how he said it?
Or possibly how he pointed out as many as three whole things that either needed fixing (melted socket by the cooker, boiler timer that didn't work and a radiator that was falling off the wall) during the first month and then dared to suggest other things a few weeks ago.

That'd do it. And the renewal offer was dated 28th August, which was about a day before he emailed the LA to let them know of these things.

  • Are you on any social housing list Esqi?

May be worth it, as you may be eventually offered a highly sought after tenancy for life.

Hi I'm new to this site and hoping someone can give me.some advice. Long story short ....

Singed a tenancy agreement for the house I am.currently renting for 3 years (this was in 2013 so still have 2 years left) Landlord phoned me at the beginning of the month and said he wants to go private so I would now be paying him rent.

I do not want to be with a private landlord as i have had trouble with them before. Do I have to sign a new contract? Or can I leave?

You need to start a new thread.
I shall report your post, and hopefully a mod can do it for you.

You are supposed to treat the house in a "tenant-like-manner".

I am guessing the landlord expected you to do minor repairs yourselves, and him to do work within Sec 11 of the 1985 Landlord and Tenant Act.
