Paypal payment in foreign currency

Is there any way to make a payment on Paypal in a foreign currency without them converting it into Sterling for you? My credit card company offers a better exchange rate than they do. If I could just set up another paypal account denominated in US$ that ought to do it but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Thanks. Deneb I actually had all my funding options set to not making the conversion already. But I have just been sending the money of my own volition. So it seems I should ask someone I'm going to pay to request the money from me rather than just sending it because I can't avoid Paypal making the conversion if I just send it.

'Sending' isn't the same as 'making payment'.
AFAIK, if you send ££, the recipient can select between converting it to the currency of their account or keeping it in a separate £ 'wallet'.

I am not sure what happens when you send other currency from a £ account. If the money comes from your PP balance then obviously the only option is PP doing the conversion.

I just checked my account, and it looked like I was able to set up a payment in US$ to come from my CC charged in US$.

Checked sending to family also, and it was the same plus a 33c fee on a $1 payment.


I have GBP/USD/EUR currencies in my profile so not sure if everyone will have those options.

Also, my account type is Premier if that makes a difference.
