The chipshop near me (just outside of london) use to charge £1 for gravy!

I say 'use to' - they closed down after 3 months of being open because no one would go there

£4.30 sounds about right to me. My local Chip Shop is £1.80 for chips, saveloy and £0.80 for a drink. That's £4.40. I'd expect London to be even higher (no part of London is 'cheap' these days).

In London you are paying to occupy a table-the food is a minor part of the cost. Their other overheads (rent, business rates, staff, utilities etc) are exactly the same whether you eat saveloy or salmon.
